Onward eyes former Preston mill for 380 affordable homes
Plans have been submitted for the transformation of the former Horrocks Mill site between Queen Street and Church Street for residential development.
Onward Homes is eyeing the plot to deliver a raft of affordable homes in Preston, featuring a a mix of apartments, townhouses and family homes.
Designed by DK Architects, the scheme would create green spaces featuring trim trails and play areas. Proposals also include new cycling and walking routes into the city centre.
Following the demolition of the cotton manufacturing plant in 1965, the site is now a vacant brownfield plot allocated for development under the city’s local plan.
Onward held a public consultation in June for feedback on its plans for the land, owned by property developer Brookhouse Group.

Nexus Planning is the planning consultant for the scheme.
The application has not yet been validated on Preston City Council’s planning portal.
Onward is active across the North West. The housing association owns and operates 35,000 homes across Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire, and Greater Manchester, with 1,100 of these being in Preston.
