Consent for Persimmon’s Penwortham Mill homes

South Ribble Council has approved plans for Mill Green Gardens, the first phase of a wider 28-acre development.

Persimmon Homes acquired the Penwortham Mills site from L&Q unconditionally earlier this year and has now secured consent for the first 49 homes.

The council granted hybrid planning permission for up to 300 homes on the former Vernon Carus site in 2022.

Overall, the scheme will feature 274 homes, including 83 specifically for local people. A Lidl has already opened next to the development.

Andrew Laing, land director at Persimmon Homes Lancashire, said: “We’re pleased that South Ribble Council has approved our plans for a range of energy efficient homes that will provide something for everyone – from first-time buyers and growing families to downsizers alike.

“We’re looking forward to getting started on a project that will deliver real benefits for the local community and we’ll continue to work closely with the Council as we progress our plans for the wider site.”
