Burnley invites developers to consider Vision Park opportunity

The local authority is offering two plots totalling two acres, valued at £309,000 and £344,100 before tax, to organisations with the “necessary resources, ability, and experience” to purchase and develop them.

As part of Burnley’s Vision Park masterplan, the plots have planning permission for office, research and development, and industrial use. The site has been cleared and prepared for development.

Developers have until 23 July to express their interest, with the tender submission deadline on 30 July. Burnley Council aims to award a contract by November.

Vision Park, found off Princess Way and Holme Road in Burnley, is a key employment area for the local authority, expected to eventually offer up to 130,000 sq ft of manufacturing and office space, primarily targeted at local SMEs.

Phase one was completed in 2017 by contractor Barnfield Construction, working for Trebor Developments in partnership with Burnley Council – it is now fully occupied.

The site is next to the Burnley College and University of Central Lancashire campus and will enable occupants to take advantage of the knowledge, skills and research into digital technologies, as well as manufacturing and engineering expertise via the Centre of Engineering Excellence nearby.

Cllr Lubna Khan, executive member for economy and growth, Burnley Council, said: “Vision Park Phase Two is a great opportunity for developers to build on a site that’s already proven its value.

“We’re keen to work with partners who share our ambition to create high-quality employment space and support Burnley’s continued economic growth.”

Vision Park is owned and operated by Burnley Council and currently offers flexible business space across two blocks, one 24,000 sq ft shed offering 14 units, and the more recent 11,000 sq ft build offering four units, ranging from 825 sq ft to 5,500 sq ft.
