National Grid close to securing Trafford site
National Grid Property Holdings, advised by Indigo Planning, has secured a resolution to grant outline planning consent for a 1m sq ft business park at its Common Lane site in Partington, Greater Manchester.
Trafford Council resolved to grant consent for the application, with plans centred on the main 67-acre site, separated from Partington Village by the former railway embankment.
The masterplan submitted as part of the application allows for 1,015,000 sq ft of employment accommodation within 27 units, each served by on-site car parking and servicing, alongside ancillary on-site services.
Indigo Planning also said an additional 13-acre of National Grid's land "will be used to create an off-site ecological habitat off Sinderland Road".
Richard Frudd, associate at Indigo Planning, said: "National Grid has a long term ambition to regenerate its old gas production and storage site and maximise its contribution to the creation of local employment opportunities.
"The timing of the plans will be driven by occupier demand, with the anticipation that the site will be developed in phases over a number of years, but this go ahead is an important first step in improving the area for the long term."
