Multi-million-pound land deal unlocks Chorley housing

Kingswood Homes has acquired the 16-acre plot off Hill Top Lane in Whittle-le-Woods, progressing with its plans to build 85 homes in the village.

The Lancashire-based housebuilder will move onto the site next year, having purchased the land from Ruttle Plant Holdings in a multi-million-pound deal.

Plans for the scheme feature a mix of three- to five-bedroom homes, including affordable units.

Properties will be available under Kingswood’s Shape Your Home concept, allowing residents to customise their own floor plans.

Chorley Council granted outline permission for the development in August 2013.

Andrea Fortune, land and planning director at Kingswood, said: “It’s great that we will be bringing on this new site in 2024.

“This is just one part of our exciting plans for the next year or so for the business”, she continued.

“Whittle-le-Woods is a thriving community and a popular area to live thanks to the amenities it has close by.

“It also has great travel connections including the M61, M6, and the A6.”

Sedgwick Associates is advising on the plans for the development.

Kingswood is active across the North West, currently on site building 435 homes in Feniscowles and 79 homes in Hoddlesden.

There will no country side left around chorley in twenty years time. I’ve seen fields galore disappear over the years being a postie . Chorley council won’t be happy until its a concrete jungle.

Thank goodness I shall be dead and gone before the lovely area I now live in has become a red brick jungle. Well done Chorley Council.
