Bruntwood, Trafford to expand popular Alty office scheme
Foundation is to get an additional 14,200 sq ft of workspace thanks to a £2.5m investment from the public/private partnership, following a spate of lettings at the development.
Bruntwood and Trafford Council’s Foundation was created through the redevelopment of the 75,000 sq ft former Rackhams department store in Altrincham’s Stamford Quarter.
The project completed in 2024 and since then has proven popular with businesses. The building is fully let to tenants including The Genius Group and Sportfive who occupy a combined 28,000 sq ft of office space and and bowling concept Lane7, which has 12,600 sq ft in the basement.
Foundation recently become 100% let following the arrival of tax agency Askrose, which took the final 3,000 sq ft.
As a result of the scheme’s popularity, Bruntwood and Trafford are seeking to add an additional 14,000 sq ft of workspace by redeveloping more vacant former retail space.
The scheme, which will feature managed and leased workspace, has been designed by BDP.
Sharon Johnson, head of commercial at Bruntwood Places, said: “Since launch, Foundation has seen significant interest from ambitious and established businesses looking for high-quality, flexible workspace in a prominent town centre location.
“The demand for Foundation, which has now reached full capacity, has given us the confidence to push forward with these exciting plans and create space for even more businesses to become part of this growing community. This £2.5m investment reflects our long-term commitment to creating places where businesses can see their futures, while supporting the wider local community and economy.”
