Gleeson proposes 165 South Lakes homes
Sixteen acres allocated for employment development on the outskirts of Oxenholme are the subject of plans for a housing scheme.
Gleeson Homes is preparing to submit a planning application for 165 homes on a triangular plot of land north of Oxenholme and south of Kendal. Its development would effectively bridge a gap between the two towns.
The site is located off Burton Road close to Westmorland General Hospital.
The site is allocated for employment development. However, it has been judged by the Westmorland and Furness Council to be suitable for housing, according to planning documents prepared by McDonald Wilkinson Tonge outlining Gleeson’s plans.

On the other side of Burton Road, Story Homes is progressing plans for a much larger development featuring almost 500 homes across 82 acres.
