Gifford adds three to transport planning team

Manchester and Chester-based engineering and environmental consultant Gifford has boosted its transport planning team with three senior appointments.

Nigel Roberts becomes technical director based in Manchester, joining from Capita Symonds. Roberts is a chartered engineer with 20 years' experience leading transport planning teams and managing transportation studies for British Rail, Parkman, Cheshire County Council, Hyder Consulting.

Roy Macdonald joins from GMPTE as an associate, also based in Manchester. He previously held senior planning positions with the Merseyside Passenger Transport Executive and is a member of the Association of Transport Co-ordination Officers.

Graham Foulkes joins as an associate from 2020 Liverpool and will head up Gifford's transport planning team in Chester. Foulkes is an experienced transport modeller who has previously worked for Cheshire County Council, Parkman and WS Atkins.

Gifford's existing projects include the proposed Mersey Gateway second river crossing between Runcorn and Widnes and long-term initiatives for the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive.
