Taylor Wimpey wins permission for 238 Edenfield homes
The housebuilder’s 30-acre scheme is to provide a mix of one-, two-, three-, four-, and five-bedroom houses off the village’s Market Street.
Up to 72 of the properties will be affordable homes, split between 36 shared ownership properties and another 36 for affordable rent.
Each house will have space for vehicle parking and a private garden area. Single-storey garages are also proposed on certain plots.
Plans for the 238-home neighbourhood, which is on former Green Belt, were first brought forward to Rossendale Council by Taylor Wimpey in 2022.

The land found off Edenfield’s Market Street has been allocated for housing in Rossendale’s 2019 local plan.
More than 400 residents lodged objections to the scheme, which was recommended for approval by officers.
Pegasus brought forward the planning application on Taylor Wimpey’s behalf.
The scheme can be viewed using the reference number 2022/0451 on Rossendale Council’s planning portal.

I thought that we were short of affordable housing 76 is nothing and how are people going to be able to afford large four/five bedrooms the builders are just taking the opportunity to make loads of money. Around the county there are lots of empty houses surely the can be renovated and used first. Around here I am sure that there are not many people who can afford to buy a property they should be building homes for people to rent. The propertys that have five bedrooms etc will be housing people from down south who will commute. Keep the Rossendale Valley small.
