Taylor Wimpey’s 238-home Rossendale plan to progress

Almost three years since submitting plans for the project, the volume housebuilder is in line to secure permission for the redevelopment of a 30-acre site west of Market Street in Edenfield.

Taylor Wimpey’s proposals have prompted 420 objections from locals but Rossendale Council is expected to approve the project on the 7 October.

The scheme features 238 homes, providing a mix of two-, three-, and four-bedroom houses on former Green Belt land that is allocated for housing in Rossendale’s local plan.

Of these, 36 will be shared ownership properties and the same amount again will be for affordable rent.

The development forms part of a wider 400-home masterplan being worked up in partnership with Anwyl.

Pegasus is advising the applicant on planning matters. To learn more, search for reference number 2022/0451 on Rossendale Council’s planning portal.

3 years and an allocated site…just shows what’s wrong with our ludicrous planning system.
