Story begins 111-home Ulverston scheme
The housebuilder’s Millfields development will deliver a mix of apartments, bungalows, and houses on the 12-acre West End Farm site for completion in 2026.
Story Homes, working with planner Pinnacle and architect Pod, will provide 35% of the 111-home total as affordable, prioritised for local people.
Accessed off Priory Road in Ulverston, the West End Farm site sits next to another Story development – the 92-home Laurel Place – which is already complete.
Once complete West End Farm will provide eight one-bed apartments, 19 two-bed houses and bungalows, and 23 three-bed terrace and semi-detached houses.
A further 46 four-, eight five-, and seven six-bedroom houses round out the mix.
Of the 38 affordable homes proposed, 18 will be for intermediate ownership, and 20 will be affordable rent.
Some existing agricultural buildings on the site will need to be demolished.
Adam McNally, senior land and planning manager for Story Homes in Cumbria and Scotland, said: “Breaking ground at Millfields is an exciting milestone for Story Homes and the wider Ulverston community.
“This development will provide a wide range of homes for all stages of life, along with green spaces and attractive street scenes designed to enhance the local area.
“We’re proud to be creating a thriving neighbourhood that will benefit residents for years to come.”
Westmorland and Furness Council have its consent for the project in March 2025.
