PLP resubmits plans for 350,000 sq ft Tyldesley industrial

Consent for 300,000 sq ft of logistics space secured in 2017 has lapsed, so the developer has lodged fresh proposals for a larger scheme with Wigan Council.

Hybrid permission for the redevelopment of the site and adjoining land was granted in 2017. Since then, the residential element – 165 properties being delivered by Eccleston Homes – has come forward.

However, the industrial part of the project has not progressed in the intervening years, prompting PLP to refresh the plans.

PLP has submitted a planning application for 350,000 sq ft of industrial space across four units on a 31-acre site adjoining Astley Business Park in Tyldesley.

Two of the units will offer just shy of 34,000 sq ft, while the two larger units will span 146,000 sq ft and 135,000 sq ft.

WSP is advising on planning and PHP Architects is leading on design. Hydrock is providing advice on transport and Barry Chinn Associates is in charge of landscapes.

To learn more about the scheme, search for application reference number A/23/96226/MAJOR on Wigan Council’s planning portal.

Just north of PLP’s plot is the site of another major development being led by Peel, which is part of the PLP JV alongside Ivanhoé Cambridge and Macquarie Asset Management.

Situated on 156 acres north of Mosley Common, the developer’s proposed masterplan includes three new parks, a transport hub, and sports and play facility alongside 1,050 homes.
