Plans in for redevelopment of Sale’s B&M

Ropley Properties has lodged outline proposals for 69 flats within a six-storey block on Broad Road.

In October, the developer signaled its intent for the B&M site in Sale by applying to knock down the 16,700 sq ft store.

Now, plans for the redevelopment have been tabled with Trafford Council.

Ropley Properties’ plans for the 0.8- acre site feature a five- to six-storey apartments block containing a 40 one- and 29 two-bedroom flats.

DPP is advising on planning and Watson Batty Architects is leading on design.

Materially speaking, the development would be primarily brick-built. A roof terrace is proposed as well as private gardens for the ground floor apartments. Some 22 parking spaces are also planned.

The scheme would be located close to Sale Metrolink stop and opposite the town’s leisure centre.

B&M has occupied the site since 2012. Prior to that the store was home to QS Fashion. In 2010, proposals to convert the store into a church were lodged but never materialised.

Literally could not be more happy to see plans like these. Homes for over a hundred people on less than an acre and near a tram stop!? Love

You wouldn’t want to driving to Sale leisure centre anymore, especially for your children’s’ swimming lessons and then nipping into B&Ms to buy supper. Let’s see if real life transport impact assessment is taken into account!

What about B&M, what happens to that, will it be moved into town centre, or just forgetting it altogether?

22 parking spaces for 69 dwellings is bonkers.

Why do these developers assume people who buy shoe box flats don’t own cars?
