Peel Land lodges 200-home Warrington plans

Twenty acres of Green Belt at Turret Hall Farm, north of Lord Street in Croft, are to be redeveloped, under plans submitted by the landowner.

Peel Land has lodged plans for 200 homes – 90 being affordable – to Warrington Council following a period of public consultation. The development would provide a mix of two-, three-, and four-bed homes.

The £22m scheme is one of three Green Belt projects Peel Land is progressing in the borough. A total of 460 homes could be built on sites in Hollins Green, Lymm, and Croft under plans being worked up currently. Peel claims the sites meet the criteria for Grey Belt.

Matthew Stafford, associate director at Peel Land said: “This scheme directly tackles Warrington’s current housing needs by providing new homes and a higher-than-normal proportion of affordable housing. The plan also brings greater opportunity for first-time buyers wanting to get onto the property ladder as well as for growing families.

“We’re pleased to move forward with these plans and would like to thank everyone who left their feedback in the consultation process.”

Turley, Randell Thorp, e3p, Chroma, I-Transport, Curtins, Iceni, and Walsingham make up the project team.

The plans are yet to be validated by Warrington Council.

@Bob Dawson. I think Peel have a housebuilding arm called Northstone who have featured in articles this week and over the past few years in PNW.

The land in Croft they’re claiming is ‘Grey Belt’ patently isn’t as its prime agricultural land that is still and has been farmed for decades. They’re looking to put Warrington Council under pressure because it’s behind on its house building targets. They’re suggesting they can build on this (Green Belt) land quickly to get back on target if they push Planning through

Looks 40 years out of date before it has even started.
