Merebridge acquires Salford site earmarked for 12-storey block of flats

The construction firm headed up by Russell Schwarze has bought a site off Duncan Street with permission for 85 apartments.

The deal is Merebridge Construction’s third in Greater Manchester in recent months, having picked up sites for similar scale schemes in Trafford and Manchester.

Developer Generation secured planning permission for a 12-storey green and white clad apartment block off Duncan Street in Salford in 2023.

Merebridge acquired the Generation-owned special purpose vehicle behind the proposals this month, according to Companies House filings.

Designed by TODD Architects, the scheme would be built on a site next to the 585-home Regent Plaza, which stalled when the Sourced Development Group SPV delivering it entered administration.

Posting on LinkedIn, Merebridge said “We are happy to announce our latest acquisition of a residential development site in Duncan Street, Manchester.

“We are pleased we have also secured development financing through our existing partner West One and our looking forward to delivering this Exciting residential project. We will be launching the residential units soon, watch this space!”

Merebridge has applied to amend the wording of a condition attached to the planning consent so that demolition work can take place and the permission can be enacted before it expires later this year.
