I was meant to be on a flight with Aer Lingus today (3 July) at 1620 hours. Manchester-Cork. Paid £93.15 for a return ticket on 1 June this year. Meeting got cancelled soon afterwards in Cork. I notified the airline on 4 June I would need to cancel the flight, which was nearly a month before the flight. I wasn’t expecting a full refund. However, I was told I would have £20 paid back into the account I booked the flight with. I’m still yet to see this appear…I know it’s a small amount but this is still an act of robbery isn’t it? I asked the Aer Lingus employee on the phone what will happen to the seats I had booked and cancelled. Her reply was ‘you did read the terms and conditions?’ which I did. I asked her would the seats be sold on and her reply was, of course, ‘yes’. Where is the fairness? If I had cancelled a week ago, maybe even two weeks, then fine I don’t expect any refund. But a month? Come on.
