GLP secures consent for 216,000 sq ft Trafford industrial
The redevelopment of the nine-acre former Tenmat site off Ashburton Road West is the developer’s first scheme in Greater Manchester.
GLP acquired the site last March and lodged plans for a 216,000 sq ft speculative logistics development in the summer.
Trafford Council has now approved the plans, which will see the former Tenmat factory demolished and replaced with a modern industrial facility.
Tenmat relocated to Irlam last year.
GLP’s scheme also features 19,000 sq ft of office space and 24 dock levellers.
Turley is advising on planning and Chetwoods is the architect.
Elsewhere in the North West, GLP is developing the 585,000 sq ft G-Park Skelmersdale. Outside the region, the developer is bringing forward the 8.3m sq ft Magna Park in Lutterworth.
Worldwide, the company has more than $120bn of assets under management totalling 667m sq ft.
GLP Adrienne Howells, development director at GLP, spoke to Place North West at MIPIM last year and said that the company was keen to add to its North West portfolio.
Howells also revealed that GLP had missed out on the acquisition of the former Guardian Printworks to DTZ Investors in 2019.
