All-ages extension proposed for Warrington primary school

The 300-pupil Bruche Academy would incorporate a single-form entry primary school that already stands on the 7.8-acre Padgate site.

Working with planner Enabl, Warrington Primary Academy Trust has submitted plans to Warrington Council for permission to integrate a two-storey block to the existing Bruche Primary school off Seymour Drive widening its internal area to 44,400 sq ft.

The future Bruche Academy would accommodate up to 300 children between the ages of two and 16.

Currently comprising a primary school with a dilapidated southern wing. The school would remain, while the disused wing would be demolished to clear the ground for the proposed extension.

Falconer Chester Hall has designed Bruche Academy, which is set to provide general teaching spaces alongside specialist rooms for design and technology, food technology, art, science, and music and drama.

In addition, the trust would remodel two existing classrooms at the northern edge of the site to bring forward an early years block to accommodate reception class, nursery, and two-year-old provision.

A dining room, indoor sports facilities, and a library are also to be included, alongside ancillary operations facilities.

Externally, a multi-use games area and two sports pitches would also be installed at the site’s east.

Secure storage for 81 bicycles is proposed to encourage sustainable travel, although the school’s car park would be expanded by 74 spaces to 88.

Access and drop-off points would be located off Seymour Drive to the site’s west. A turning area will be incorporated into the car park to ensure a continuous flow of traffic.

The project team includes Baker Mallet, Seed, SLR Consulting, Ridge, Clancy Consulting, Element Sustainability, Sports Planning Consultants, DEP Landscape Architecture, and E3P.

Do 12-16 year olds now attend Primary School? Or will it have a SEND dept for Secondary-aged pupils?

By Gum

Bruche Academy will be a new all-ages school. It is going to incorporate the existing primary school on site. Hope that clears things up.
