DTZ rejigs student resi team

DTZ Manchester has broadened its student residential offering after an internal restructure, with associate director Simon Lowe joining from the investment team, and surveyor Adam Taylor from the valuation team.

Lowe has worked as an associate director in DTZ's investment team for 10 years, and will now act alongside colleagues in Edinburgh and London as part of the student residential team, providing transactional and asset management advice to investors, developers and universities.

Lowe previously specialised in commercial investment and asset management in the North West for recent clients including Hudson Advisors, Greater Manchester Pension Fund, PwC and Manchester Airport.

A qualified surveyor, Taylor joins the student residential team in a valuation capacity. He joined the firm in 2011 and has worked in various roles across commercial agency and investment. He has undertaken disposal and acquisition work for a variety of clients including Aviva, CBRE Global Investors, Orchard Street Investment Management and most recently has been involved with the Free Schools project on behalf of the Education Funding Agency.

The student residential team has assisted in the delivery of 7,000 new student bed spaces, the refinancing of more than 20,000 rooms and the valuation of a further 12,000 bed spaces in the past year alone. The team recently acted for administrators PwC on the £244.9m disposal of former Opal student residential blocks.
