Club de Padel finds new home at Manchester’s Mayfield

Having vacated its former premises at Great Jackson Street to pave the way for a quintet of Renaker skyscrapers, the operator will open a five-court facility within the emerging neighbourhood in 2027.

Located within disused viaduct arches close to the children’s playground at Mayfield Park, Club de Padel’s facility would also feature a cafe, bar, and events space.

Subject to planning approval, the club is expected to open next summer.

Club de Padel’s arrival comes as the construction of the first office building – the 243,000 sq ft Republic – progresses on the opposite side of the six-acre Mayfield Park, which completed in 2022.

Recently, an area of public realm off Travis Street – including the Avanade Intelligent Garden – has also been created.

A spokesperson from Club de Padel, which was founded by Davide Blake, Lucy Noone-Blake, Mattherw McKinley, and James Wigglesworth, said: “We are beyond excited to have found our Manchester home at Mayfield Park.

“The regeneration of the Mayfield district, including the dynamic and creative use of the Depot, the sheer care and effort poured into the park, incredible collaborations such as the rehoming of an award winning Chelsea Flower show garden and the development of new workspace and homes come together to create a neighbourhood that we’re delighted to be a key part of.”

Henrietta Nowne, development director at Landsec, said: “Club de Padel is a brilliant addition to Mayfield Park. We want to create the kind of place people feel a real connection to and want to return to with more reasons to spend time here. It brings another burst of energy to Mayfield and feels like a really natural fit. We’re delighted to have Club de Padel as part of our community.”
