Breck starts on 51 affordable Lancs homes

The housebuilder hopes to finish construction on the site off Rosemount Avenue in Preesall by mid-2027.

Breck Homes’ signing of a £10m contract to hand over the finished properties to Progress Housing Group was the final piece of the puzzle to get the scheme off the ground.

Plans for the all-affordable 51-home scheme were submitted to Wyre Council in February 2024 and received consent to build in November of the same year.

Mosaic Town Planning applied to the local authority on behalf of Breck, also compiling designs using Breck’s standard house types.

Andy Garnett, director at Breck Homes, said: “The number of people of retirement age is growing across the UK, including in Wyre, which makes providing affordable housing suitable for older people increasingly important.

“Rosemount Avenue will create a high-quality community that people at a range of different stages in their lives can call home, with bungalows designed for older residents as well as homes for couples and families.

“It’s our latest development with Progress Housing Group after beginning construction of around 100 houses in Cottam at the end of last year, and we’re currently liaising on several further projects.”

Daniel Griffiths, director of development at Progress Housing Group, added: “This scheme will deliver high-quality affordable homes for both rent and shared ownership sale that meet the identified needs of the local community.

“The scheme is supported by grant funding from Homes England and assists in delivering against our housing provision aspirations.

“We are delighted to strengthen our existing relationship with Breck through this scheme, with more projects in the pipeline.”

Breck Homes has numerous developments in the works across the North West, including the 102 homes in Cottam.

The housebuilder has also put forward plans to develop 81 homes on the former Huyton Cricket and Bowling Club in Huyton.
