Bellway targets 21 acres in Hazel Grove for housing

The housebuilder is drawing up proposals for 220 houses south of Jacksons Lane, close to the high school.

Bellway has signaled its intention to redevelop a 21-acre swathe of land with the submission of an EIA screening request to Stockport Council.

A letter lodged with the request states that the scheme would feature a mix of two-, three-, and four-bedroom houses, with 50% earmarked as affordable.

The development is expected to commence in 2028 and the construction period is likely to last between six and eight years “depending on market conditions”, according to the letter.

The scheme is the latest to come forward south of Jacksons Lane in recent months. Taylor Wimpey is planning 160 homes immediately west of Bellway’s site, while Russell Homes has permission for another 160 at Stockport Rugby Football Club.

APD is advising Bellway. To learn more, search for reference number DC/097683 on Stockport Council’s planning portal.

Awful idea as traffic gridlocked already there

Looks like the whole of south Stockport is about to be paved over! So called planners need to preserve green spaces and say no to greedy builders. Otherwise we will all suffer.

This takes over a popular camp site, a footpath known as happy valley, and removes all green from the poynton to bramhall borders, they know they won’t sell quickly so the plan is to build and sell over many years. Affordable doesn’t confirm with any definition I understand.

Get building them

Stockport council are a joke, there are plenty of empty offices in Stockport to convert instead of building on green belt land

That field regularly floods as it is, what could possibly go wrong? PMSL.

Can you stop building houses on every available patch of land?! Are we allowed green spaces or is it all intentional for every bit of stockport to be paved over and built on, its never ending and they won’t be affordable to normal people either

Absolute stupidity. Hazel grove is already a moving car park with lights . Who are these so called town planners obviously don’t live here in the area . Utter madness.
