Aprirose acquires 12-acre Wigan industrial
Formerly home to a Morrisons supermarket, the Ince-in-Makerfield site has permission to be redeveloped into a 45,000 sq ft head office for modular accommodation provider Algeco.
Aprirose has acquired the 12-acre Makerfield Way site from Seddon Group for an undisclosed sum.
Seddon bought the site last year and worked with Algeco, formerly Elliott Group, on plans for its redevelopment.
Algeco is relocating to the site from its current base at Trafford Park and has signed a 15-year lease.
Manish Gudka, chief executive of Aprirose, said: “We are pleased to bring this asset into our growing logistics portfolio, especially given the tenant covenant strength and strategic location.
“The acquisition represents another example of our ability to identify and secure highly attractive, sought-after properties in burgeoning growth markets.”
Colliers acted for Aprirose on the letting and sale.
Nathan Khanverdi, associate director at Colliers, said: “Industrial and logistics supply in the North West region is at a very critical level.
“Given the limited amount of industrial stock available, this was a great opportunity with Algeco seeking to create an additional 100 new jobs with its move to these larger premises.”
