Wirral extra care housing starts on site

Galliford Try Partnerships has started building an extra care housing scheme in Saughall Massie, Wirral, on behalf of housing association Alpha Living.

Designed by Pozzoni, the project will see 78 apartments, made up of 60 one-bed and 18 two-bed flats, built off Woodpecker Close on the site of a former residential care home. Alpha specialises in services to help people live independently in later life.

The apartments will offer 24-hour care and support services on site with a number of the homes designed to be wheelchair accessible. Built alongside will also be a bistro and hair salon.

Residents can access a spa bathroom and well-being suite as well as a communal lounge. A new head office for Alpha Living will be included in the development.

Graeme Foster, chief executive of Alpha Living, said: “This is a hugely important project for Alpha. We are grateful for the passion and hard work of the whole development team. With funding and support from Homes England and Wirral Council, the development will provide attractive housing and fantastic services for years to come. ”

Construction is due to be complete in October 2020.
