Taskers’ recovery continues with Formby store

The Liverpool-based furniture retailer is returning to the town within the 8,000 sq ft former Formby Cycles unit on Altcar Road.

Taskers return to Formby comes eight years after the family-run outfit closed a store on Church Road in 2018.

Since then, the firm has endured a challenging period. Faced with mounting debts, Taskers entered into a company voluntary arrangement in June 2024.

However, in January, the company reported and improving financial picture which included narrowing pre-tax losses for the financial year ended 28 February 2025 from £3m to £1m year-on-year.

Taskers also reported reduced revenues – £13.5m to £10m – during the same period.

In late 2025, Lidl agreed to acquire Taskers’ 120,000 sq ft former Wavertree R0ad site, which had been closed since 2017.

Oliver Tasker, director at Taskers, said: “Returning to Formby is something we’re incredibly excited about.

“The new store will give us the opportunity to bring Taskers closer to customers in the area, and we’re looking forward to opening the doors and welcoming everyone in.”

The new store had been home to Formby Cycles for the last 30 years. The company closed down the shop in March.
