Russell WBHO gets cracking at Tameside’s Village Hotel
The Manchester-based construction company has been appointed to extend the Ashton-under-Lyne hotel by 48 rooms.
A five-storey extension spanning 15,400 sq ft is now being erected alongside the existing Village Hotel Club off Pamir Drive.
The four upper floors would host the bedrooms and will be connected via a link bridge to the other half of the hotel.
Gareth Russell, managing director at Russell WBHO, said: “Drawing on our vast experience of the hotel sector, we’re looking forward to working with Village Hotels Ashton to complete their 48-bedroom extension.
“Our team are delivering a full turnkey service, including the fit out. All the work will be carried out while the hotel remains open with measures in place to prevent any disruption.”
Landscape architect Viewpoint will be charged with the aesthetics of the surrounding grounds.
Consent for the scheme put forward by planning consultant Lichfields was given in March 2024.
Andrew Weisz, head of property at Village Hotels, added: “Following the team’s successful development of a new design model, we’re pleased to once again work with Russell WBHO to bring a significant extension to Village Hotel Ashton.
“By leveraging Russell WBHO’s proven sector expertise, this project will bring significant capacity to the Village Hotel Ashton with minimal disruption to other guests and members on site.”
The village hotel is set to stay in operation while work takes place. The hotel benefits from easy access to and from the M60, as well as being located a short distance from the Peak District.
“We look forward to working with Gareth and the team to complete this project over the coming weeks and months,” Weisz added.
The professional team features project manager Cummings, structural engineer SGI, lead architect and designer Leach Rhodes Walker, and principal designer RLB.
