Receivers sell problem mill site

Liverpool-based startup BXB Land Solutions has exchanged on its first deal, having agreed to the unconditional purchase of the 10-acre former Bridge Mills site on New Road in Tintwistle, High Peak.

Gary Goodman, director of BXB, and ex McCarthy & Stone and English Partnerships, said: “This site has previously benefitted from planning permission for residential development [81 dwellings] but has simply failed to be delivered due to the complex remedial and engineering constraints facing the site.

“However, we believe that a viable remedial and technical strategy can be presented to the local planning authority that will enable clean residential land to be offered to the residential development sector and facilitate the delivery of much needed new family housing in this area.”

Receivers at KPMG sold the site following the collapse of the previous owner, SCC. The price was not disclosed. KPMG was represented by agent Sanderson Weatherall.
