Nuclear engineer takes 12,000 sq ft in Blackburn
Assystem, one of the world’s largest nuclear engineering companies, has relocated 70 staff from Preston to Blackburn’s Evolution Park.
The company has taken 12,000 sq ft in the Innovation Centre, the largest building at the development, which is owned and managed by Hansteen Property Investments. The office sits near Junction 5 of the M65.
Assystem works across nuclear and defence, and counts Rolls Royce and Sellafield amongst its clients. Listed on Euronext Paris, the company also works on ITER in France, the world’s largest research and development project for nuclear fusion.
The company, which employs 500 staff across six sites in the UK, will have around 70 staff based at the Innovation Centre. These were formerly based on Club Street in Bamber Bridge, near Preston.

It marks the beginning of a new phase for the business, which is now focused on developing our digital offer, being at the forefront of supporting nuclear new build in the UK and continuing to deliver excellent value and service to our existing clients.
“We are also pleased to retain our headquarters in Lancashire having been previously sited in Preston”.
