Novo consults on Hale housing proposals

Trafford Council and developer Novo are holding a public consultation today on plans for a £6m development on Brown Street car park in the centre of Hale, featuring 22 homes and a multi-storey car park.

Novo and contractor CPUK were picked as development partners last month to deliver the project, which will be built on a surface car park next to Hale railway station and within the Hale conservation area. Novo’s proposals, designed by Altrincham-based architect Project3, feature 10 houses fronting Brown Street and an apartment block of 12 homes, as well as a multi-storey car park.

The 10 houses will be brick-clad and feature built in garages, accessed via Brown Street, along with gardens set on the roof of the multi-storey car park.

Apartments will be housed in a neighbouring three-storey light brick-clad block to the southern end of the site; it is proposed that all 12 of these apartments will be made available for shared ownership. The car park is designed to be concealed from view from the Brown Street side of the site, and the developer is intending to ‘green’ the façade by including climbing plants.

As well as Novo and CPUK, the team also features planner Nexus, Civic Engineers, and landscape architect Planit-IE. Planit-IE, Novo, Project3, and Civic Engineers are all based in Altrincham.

The development team is holding a public consultation today on the plans at Novo’s office at 28 The Downs in Altrincham between 4pm and 7pm. A planning application is expected to follow in the coming months.

Trafford Council launched the procurement process for a development partner for the site in December last year.
