Elan snaps up Blackpool site for 86 homes

The housebuilder has bought a 10-acre site at Marton Moss, part of the 422-home Redwood Point development in the Blackpool suburbs, and wants to acquire additional land across the North West.

The purchase of the site near Lytham from developer Kensington Developments is Elan Homes’ first site acquisition in Lancashire, it said. The value of the deal was not disclosed.

The Cheshire-based housebuilder has bought the plot to develop the second phase – comprising 86 homes and known as Redwood Gardens – of the Redwood Point development whose first phase of 137 homes is completed and sold.

Under Elan’s plans, Redwood Gardens will a choice of three- and four-bedroom homes ranging from 972 sq ft to 1,953 sq ft in size. The units will initially be marketed for sale off-plan, with a show home scheduled to open this autumn.

Construction of the first homes is expected to be completed by early 2022.

The scheme, which has planning approval, also features landscaping including hedgerow planning to all front gardens and additional tree planting intended to provide a “leafy setting” to homes.

The scheme is located five minutes from Lytham and a short drive from Blackpool town centre and has easy access to the M55 and nearby M6.

As part of regional expansion plans, Elan is now looking to acquire further land across Lancashire and will consider sites with or without planning consent, it said.

Philip Palmer, land director for Elan Homes in the North, said: “Elan has a proven track record of building quality homes in sought-after locations. The acquisition of our first site in Lancashire is a major step for the business.

“Work on site is due to start soon, with the first homes due to be released for sale in the summer. We recognise that there’s a need to ensure there’s a future housing supply across Lancashire to supplement our acquisition at Redwood Gardens, and the wider North West, which is why we remain committed to acquiring new sites.”

Lytham????
It’s nowhere near Lytham.

Disgraceful! These won’t be affordable homes for the majority. Characterless and cheaply built for max. profit. I believe the bit about the hedgerows when I see it.

Terrible, when will the wildlife ever get put before all these overpriced houses?

Totally agree with Karen Taylor. I live on moss house road. It was a disgrace the amount of green space with established hedge rows and trees that were ripped up to build cheap overpriced toy town houses.
