LUC strengthens leadership team

Hywel Roberts will lead the company’s environmental planning team in Manchester as director, bringing the office’s total headcount to 35.

Environmental consultancy LUC has strengthened its leadership with the appointment of Roberts, who brings more than 22 years of experience in environmental impact assessment and consenting to the role.

Heading up the company’s five-strong environmental planning team in Manchester, Roberts will lead the group in working with clients to develop and implement sustainable planning strategies, and to secure planning permission for their projects.

Roberts joins LUC after 17 years at WSP, where he worked on a wide range of projects in the road, energy, and waste management sectors. Roberts is particularly experienced in negotiating and agreeing mitigation proposals with stakeholders and landowners.

In his new role at LUC, Roberts and the wider environmental team will collaborate closely with the firm’s ecology, landscape, planning and historic environment teams on a wide range of projects.

LUC has also boosted its leadership team in Edinburgh with the appointment of Henry Collin as director of environmental planning.

Sarah Young, board director for planning at LUC, said: “We are delighted to welcome Henry and Hywel to LUC.

“They bring a wealth of experience and expertise, which will consolidate our position as market leaders in environmental impact assessment and infrastructure consenting,” she continued.

Founded in the 1960s, LUC operates across seven offices nationwide, based in Manchester, Edinburgh, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Sheffield, and Glasgow. Recent projects the company has worked on include Southway Housing Trust’s 60-home scheme in Stretford.
