Huyton’s Premier Inn looks to add 23-bed annexe
The hotel chain’s owner Whitbread is making good on its pledge to expand its nationwide offer to 175,000 rooms, having now lodged an application with Knowsley Council for an extension to its Tarbock site.
Whitbread wants to add a 23-room extension to the 41-bedroom hotel off Wilson Road to bring the total offer up to 64 rooms.
Plans show the 20,700 sq ft extension, designed by frequent Whitbread collaborator Allison Pike Architects, would be added to the east wing of the hotel.
Despite the added rooms, the 70-space car park is not expected to be altered in the application.
Walsingham Planning complied and submitted the application on Whitbread’s behalf.
Premier Inn’s expansion has been accelerating across the North West. In July, Manchester’s second-largest Premier Inn topped out and will eventually provide 229 city centre beds when it completes in autumn 2026.
In autumn last year, expansion plans were revealed for Premier Inns in Sale and Preston.
The project team for the application comprises Indigo Landscape Architects, Thornley & Lumb Partnership, RGP, and Arbtech.
