H&M expands in Manchester
Clothing retailer H&M has increased its presence in Manchester city centre by taking a new lease across the whole of 68-72 Market Street, including the former Phones4U shop next to its current unit.
The deal takes H&M’s total store size on Market Street to more than 41,000 sq ft. The shop at 68-70 Market Street is 35,000 sq ft while 72 Market Street will add 6,000 sq ft.
Royal London Asset Management is the landlord and was represented by Barker Proudlove. H&M represented itself.
H&M is currently on site fitting out the expanded unit, which is due to open early next year.
Soon Market Street will just be H&M and that Pound Shop. Which sums the place up nicely

Shops you mean? Summed up by shops? Like All Saints and Urban Outfitters and many others, and there’s no pound shop anymore. Have you ever been?

Market Street’s never really had a destination feel to it I don’t think. It’s just a bit grim, a bit narrow, and seems to be used mainly as a thoroughfare. I’m not disputing there’s some decent shops on there, but it’s just a bit naff. The Arndale Centre looms heavily on one side, though recently walked through and it’s not too bad a place, bit dated, bit tired (the old bit of course). Funny old place, Markey Street…

Where HMV once was is a pound shop, no? I reckon the Appentice candidates’ discount stores were better than half the other shops in the Arndale

The Arndale might be decent shopping centre but it could be anywhere.
