Plans in for Ellesmere Port primary school
To be constructed at the heart of the 2,000-home Ledsham Garden Village, the school would be home to 315 pupils.
Cheshire West and Chester Council has applied to itself for planning permission to build the two-storey facility on a 3.2-acre plot south of Brightsmith Road.
The authority hopes the school could open in time for the 2028/29 academic year. The submission of plans follows a period of public consultation earlier this year.
Cllr Adam Langan, cabinet member for children and young people, said: “Thank you to everyone that took part in our recent consultation, their views have helped shape our revised plans for the school which we have now submitted for approval whilst we also seek views on the school’s educational specification.
“We want the new school to become a key part of the Ledsham Garden Village community and offer local children the best start in life, and we look forward to working with the Academy Trust that will run the school once we complete the appointment process, currently expected in early 2027.”
The proposed school will also include a 26-place nursery and a 10-place special educational needs and disabilities provision.
The project team includes Hive Projects, Cassidy & Ashton, ESD, JPS, and Fenton & Reece.
The application can be viewed on the online council’s planning portal using the reference 26/01127/REM.
Ledsham Garden Village was allocated for up to 2,000 homes in Cheshire West and Chester Council’s 2015 local plan.
Housebuilder Redrow has been delivering the 260-acre scheme, having gained outline consent for the project in 2015. There are currently 1,647 homes in the development that have either been built or have planning permission.
