Burnley opens door to more occupiers at 100,000 sq ft industrial
The council approved an amendment to the planning permission for Barnfield’s Advance Point that broadens the pool of tenants the scheme could appeal to.
Prior to last week’s development control committee meeting, the 100,000 sq ft scheme next to Rossendale Road Industrial Estate could only be used for B1 and B2 uses, which cover general industry, offices, R&D, and light industry.
Under the terms of the planning approval awarded in 2023, the scheme could not be used for storage and distribution operations.
Following interest from storage and distribution companies, Barnfield asked to tweak the consent and has now been granted approval to so.
The change “would provide maximum flexibility at the site and respond to market demand”, according to a planning statement prepared by consultancy Connollys.
Advance Point sits just two miles from the M65’s Junction 9 and Junction 10 in Burnley.
Planning permission for Advance Point was granted in January 2023 to the Nelson-based contractor.
Designed by Campbell Driver Partnership, the sheds sit on nearly nine acres of greenfield.
