Hallam targets 16 acres in Alsager for homes

Plans for 130 residences have been submitted to Cheshire East Council by Henry Boot’s land promotion business.

Hallam Land Management has lodged outline proposals for the neighbourhood on 16 acres of greenfield land at Manor Farm in Alsager.

The site would be accessed via William Howell Way and Hulse Way.

The plot is located close to three other housing schemes from Seddon Homes, Jones Homes, and Barratt David Wilson that have emerged over the last decade.

A planning statement prepared by NJL Consulting states that Cheshire East’s current housing land supply position – 3.8 years against a target of five – weighs in favour of Hallam’s plans.

Along with NJL Consulting, Stantec is advising Hallam on the proposals alongside Astute Transport. To learn more, search for reference number 25/3904/OUT on Cheshire East Council’s planning portal.

Elsewhere across the region, Hallam had plans for 300 homes in Ribble Valley rejected earlier this year while a 700-home proposal in Knowsley was recently submitted to the council for consideration.

Alsager cannot cope with any more homes before the infrastructure is sound. Better roads, schools, doctors, dentists, facilities. Access and egress for these estates need to be taken into consideration when most houses now have at least two cars. Also nature and wildlife should be greatly considered as their homes and lives come under threat. Will there be really affordable housing, housing association homes, homes to downsize to, eg bungalows, maybe a community centre, care home, shops. All things that are needed not just 4 and 5 bed executive homes. But better still do not build anything.

Is it the same cut and paste comment from NIMBYs on every article? No doubt all typed whilst working from home in their 4 or 5 bed executive home.

Any plans need to include the infrastructure to support the new homes that are proposed. In all fairness Alsager cannot absorb another housing estate. We barely have our needs covered as residents as it is. This is green space that you are proposing to build on. Young people and adults need sporting facilities. We read much about unhealthy lifestyles and the importance of physical activity on the one hand but when it suits, build on green spaces?! We cannot cope. This needs to be reconsidered and cancelled!

Did Hallam acquire this site without having a direct access?

Shame this one isn’t significantly bigger. It lacks ambition as it should be capable of delivering a much larger urban extension. Should really be a minimum of 500 new homes and then it could support a nice country park etc.
