GMPF secures 240,000 sq ft Rochdale industrial deals

Cleland McIver and Solotech have signed for 165,000 sq ft and 76,000 sq ft respectively at Kingsway Business Park, located at Junction 21 of the M62.

The Greater Manchester Pension Fund, which owns the industrial development, has let two speculatively built units to Cleland McIver, which supplies household textiles to UK retailers, and Solotech, an international audio and visual technology firm.

The firms join global food giant Danish Crown at Kingsway. The meat giant opened a nearly 330,000 sq ft pork processing facility last year.

Cllr Gerald Cooney, Chair of Greater Manchester Pension Fund, said: “This is part of GMPF’s long standing successful programme of investing in Greater Manchester with the twin aims of delivering commercial returns to meet our pension liabilities whilst having a positive impact on the local economy, where the majority of our members live and work.”

APAM is advising the landlord GMPF on the scheme. JLL, Avison Young and CBRE are the joint letting agents.

Joe Bostock, industrial and logistics associate at JLL, said: “Both Cleland McIver and Solotech are existing occupiers in the borough who are consolidating from multiple existing units into larger, more efficient premises.

“These lettings have achieved new record rents for Kingsway and are a testament to the quality product that GMPF has delivered, having had strong interest in both these units and the remaining unit which comprises 47,358 sq ft.”

Will there be jobs for local people people that live in the area

By John Hollis

No mention whatsoever about the local residents who live 30 metres away from this 24/7 persistent noise and pollution. Terrible thoughtless planning.

By Anonymous

These two companies are already in the area so where’s the gain. The premises they leave will likely be left empty and redundant

@Anonymous 9:31 we ignore those figures, same in Manchester, a letting is a letting, add it to the numbers, ignore the fact that space has been left empty

Cleland McIver are closing thier premises in littleborough and the existing one on Kingsway and moving into the one bigger premises which they’ve just signed the lease for on Kingsway. They are expanding, there will most likely be more jobs created.

Cleland have already got agreement for there old premises they have just out grown theses premises, as for residents having to put up with noise 🙄 this land is being used to benefit the people of Rochdale with more jobs and local which will mean money in their wages packet less time travelling to and from work so they also get to spend more time as families which is win win
