Expansion planned for Liverpool children’s care centre

Claire House Children’s Hospice off Honey’s Green Lane in West Derby will increase in size significantly as the charity bids to grow its reach amid rising demand.

Claire House is a North West charity that cares for seriously or terminally ill children. The expansion of its Liverpool hub will allow it to broaden the range of services if offers to the level of its Wirral site, according to a planning statement prepared by Arup.

Designed by David Miller Architects, the extension to the former Carmelite Monastery will feature a new-build clinical pavilion with an undulating roof attached to the existing historic building via a link structure.

Later additions to the existing buildings would be cleared and replaced with modern therapy spaces including a hydrotherapy pool. The adjoining pavilion would feature bedrooms, end-of-life care suites, and staff and storage areas constructed around an internal garden.

Butterfly suites, which offer 24/7 respite care, will also be delivered as part of the project.

This is wonderful news…and with the new Zoe’s place (Little Lights) also being built in West Derby Village. Both being so close to West Derby’s, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
