DK-Architects promotes two

The Liverpool based practice has made two senior management appointments, with Jamie Thompson stepping up to director and Gethin Hughes becoming an associate.

Thompson joined DK-Architects in 2006, became an associate in 2014, and has been an associate director since 2017.

DK said that Thompson has played a pivotal role in improving the quality of every aspect of the practice for many years; leading high profile and award-winning projects, managing and mentoring staff, and taking responsibility for many critical aspects of compliance and quality management.

DK Architects director David Dickerson said: “This well-deserved promotion is a testament to the talent and qualities that Jamie brings to DK-Architects.

“It recognises the commitment he has shown to the practice throughout his 20 years with us and highlights the key role he is playing in driving the practice forward as we continue to improve every aspect of what makes DK-Architects special. Jamie’s promotion is an exciting step for both him and the future of the practice”

Thompson joins Dickerson and David Gilkes as directors, with associate director Hannah Bolton rounding off the senior leadership team.

Thompson said: “I’m incredibly proud to be stepping into the role of Director at DK-Architects. Throughout my time with the practice, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside talented colleagues and collaborating with supportive clients and partners, contributing to projects that have made a meaningful impact on communities and places.

“I’d like to thank the whole team for their continued trust and support and am excited to help lead DK-Architects in continuing to deliver great outcomes for our clients and communities.”

Gethin Hughes joins Nick Steele as an associate at DK-Architects. Since joining the practice in 2016, said the firm, he has “consistently demonstrated the professionalism, diligence and commitment that make him a highly valued member of the team”. He previously worked at John McCall Architects.

DK has now been operational for around 30 years, working in sectors including commercial, cultural, housing, health, leisure, masterplanning, and urban regeneration.

Notable practice projects include the RIBA National Award-winning housing project The Gables; Points Cross, a residential-led mixed use urban masterplan in Leeds providing 928 homes, commercial spaces and two acres of public open space; and the recently completed Clover House, a homelessness-tackling accommodation project for Jigsaw Homes in Ardwick.
