School plans tabled for Liverpool fruit and veg market site
Contractor Tilbury Douglas has lodged the plans for a replacement for the St Anne (Stanley) Primary School on a nine-acre site off Prescot Road.
The two-storey school is being delivered as part of the Department for Education’s School Rebuilding Programme. It will be constructed on the site of a former fruit and vegetable market that Liverpool City Council agreed to sell to the DfE in 2022.
At the time, the plan was for the DfE to build a secondary school on the site. However, the plans lodged with Liverpool City Council are to replace the dilapidated St Anne (Stanley) Primary School less than 1km away, which is in critically poor condition” and is “currently being supported by over 500 structural props”, according to a planning statement prepared by Iceni Projects.
Outside of the 26,000 sq ft school, a multi-use games area and playing fields would be provided.

As well as the DfE’s selected contractor Tilbury Douglas, the project team includes Arcadis, TACE, Sutcliffe, Vietec, Pinnacle, OFR, AEC, Keelagher Okey Klein, Majenta, and Astute Transport Planning.
