Domis on site at Greengate residential blocks
Salboy’s construction arm Domis has started preparing the sites of two residential projects within Salford’s Greengate, as a land deal between Salboy and Salford City Council nears completion.
Work has started on the 104-home Copper Works, while the neighbouring Queen Street plot has been hoarded off to ready for construction.
Salboy gained planning permission for the 18-storey apartment block on Queen Street, totalling 115 apartments, earlier this year. The architect is Jon Matthews.
A land deal has been under negotiation between Salboy and Salford City Council, and is set to conclude next week when the agreement is signed off at the council’s property and regeneration committee.
Under the deal, Salboy’s landholdings on Queen Street would be transferred to the council, then leased back on a 250-year term.
One of the terms of the deal is the developer has to start on site within six months, and complete the building within 36 months.
Next door, The Copper Works has planning permission for commercial units and a 14-storey residential block made up of 104 apartments. The scheme was designed by Ollier Smurthwaite, and Salboy acquired the site with planning consent from the architect’s developer arm.
