Davos acquires 600-home Liverpool scrap site
The Norton scrap metal site on the corner of Chaloner Street and Upper Parliament Street has been acquired by TJ Morris’s development business.
Davos Property Developments bought the two-acre Liverpool site from S Norton & Co last year for £8.1m, according to HM Land Registry, a deal that has not previously been reported.
Davos declined to comment on the deal when approached by Place North West.
Chaloner Street Developments, a vehicle controlled by Robert Taylor and former Liverpool footballer Sean Highdale, secured planning permission for 650 homes, a 240-bed hotel, and 43,500 sq ft of commercial space on the site in 2020.
Chaloner Street Developments was dissolved last year.
The plot was put up for sale in 2021 but its was not until three years later when a deal was struck between Davos and the landowner.
The acquisition sees Davos, run by the Dave Little – the son-in-law of TJ Morris founder Tom Morris – add to its holdings in the area.
The firm recently lodged plans for 199 apartments off Greenland Street, a short distance from the Norton site.
Very, very good news indeed. To have such a committed and well-resourced developer in Liverpool is a blessing. Looking forward to seeing their vision for the site. Bring it on!

This is just brilliant news from a local and clearly well funded developer which has its roots firmly in the city. Hopefully a number of exciting or even iconic buildings will emerge from this major gateway site. Lets get the diggers and spades on the ground right now.

This is very good news as Davos have the financial wherewithal to develop this site with something noteworthy.Of course it was obvious all along that Chaloner St Developments would just bank the land so now we can move on and hopefully get plans in soon.
I just wish Davos could get on site at 118 Duke St or is the planning department being awkward.

This is great news!! Let’s hope David or Legacy can get their hands on the failed Elliott site on Leeds St too…the investors don’t seem to be moving with this at all! But that is boss news for Liverpool the Norton site has been an eyesore for decades!! 👏👏

Just please don’t replicate that awful curved tower at Parliament Square along the road – dated before it was even completed. The rounded edges look naff and surely more expensive to build.

Salford Quays and Manchester: take note. Bit more variety here on this Lpool scheme. Too much bland crap still happening over this way! :/

I’d rather have many poor schemes than a handful of good ones

What is to happen to the cobbles that covers or, maybe covered that land. Hope theyre are salvaged.

Excellent news from a committed family of a successful working class family.
They are dedicated to the future of the City of Liverpool.

If they are a good working class family hopefully they haven’t forgotten their roots and ensure they provide good quality and the proper amount of affordable housing.

@Nonny Mouse, I’m not that bothered if Davos/TJ Morris have a working class background or not as long as they are building and investing in our city.
Liverpool has too much of this working class good, middle class bad syndrome, as let’s face it most sensible people aspire to better themselves.

Glad this might be moving forward, sad it looks so awful.
