Collington Winter launches environmental consultancy

Olivia Collington has joined the landscape architecture practice as director, responsible for launching and heading up a dedicated environmental and ecology offering.

The now combined practice, Collington Winter Environmental, will offer ecological consultancy services, expanding the established landscape architecture business founded in 2015 and headed up by Jane Winter.

The ecology side headed up by Collington will aim to deepen the firm’s consultancy services across the residential, commercial and minerals sectors nationwide, with specific services including preliminary ecological appraisals and assessment, protected species surveys, and mitigation.

Collington will be based at the Manchester office of the company, which also has an office in Dumfries, Scotland.

A chartered environmentalist, she joins from Manchester-based multidisciplinary consultancy EP3, where she founded and grew the ecology division as associate director.

Prior to that, Collington led the national ecology team at environmental consultancy REC. She holds Natural England Bat and Great Crested Newt licences, as well Natural England Badger Mitigation Licences.

Collington has also provided CPD presentations for clients over the last two years on a range of subject areas and has particular expertise in the Government’s new Biodiversity Net Gain Policy.

Winter said: “This is a really exciting time within the industry to launch this new combined offering.

“Our joint knowledge, past project experience and expertise allows us to provide clients with pragmatic, joined up developer friendly advice and services to assist rather than delay projects.”

The landscape architecture services already offered by Collington Winter Environmental include design, planning and management services, with particular expertise in historic landscapes and landscape and visual impact assessment.

Collington and Winter have built strong relationships with stakeholders across the UK while working on projects together over the years.

Collington is married to Robert Collington, who is named as a director of the company alongside Winter on Companies House. He provided financial advice to establish the company but has no operational role within the firm.
