E3P launches ecology division with new hire

Manchester engineering and environmental consultancy E3P has appointed associate director Olivia Collington to head up a new ecology division.

Collington previously led the nationwide ecology team at Resource & Environmental Consultants. At E3P she will develop the ecology team, adding to the existing services on offer from the headquarters in Barton, Salford.

The firm provides geotechnical and environmental consultancy services to clients across a broad range of residential, commercial and industrial sectors.

Collington said: “I’m looking forward to working closely with the team and building on their success. Ecology is a great complementary service for E3P. Clients like the reassurance and confidence that they’re working with a consultancy with all the expertise they need in one place.

“It helps build trust with the developers and, by carrying out ecological assessments alongside the geotechnical and environmental specialists, it means the service is more streamlined and cost effective.

The ecology division will ensure that developers adhere to UK and European legislation and ensure the wildlife and habitats on sites are protected. Species are often transported to a suitable location during the building process then safely returned.

Collington added: “We try to enhance the bio-diversity of the site, so we may do something as simple as planting a wildflower meadow or native and fruiting trees on a housing development. The aim is to ensure the finished project complements the area while benefiting wildlife too.”
