Clearance phase complete as Anwyl advances Bebington resi

Redeveloping a former part of Unilever’s Port Sunlight R&D facility, the housebuilder will deliver 127 homes in its first private-sale Wirral project.

The nine-acre site was acquired by Anwyl nine months ago. Anwyl’s development will be named Lottie Gardens, honouring legendary Bebington-born sportswoman Lottie Dod.

Homes of one to four bedrooms will feature at the brownfield project. The clearance phase included bringing down a 230,000 sq ft office and lab complex.

With demolition now complete, site engineers are preparing to deliver part of the site to the construction team.

Mark Calvert, recently arrived from Kellen Homes as managing director for Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said: “Concluding the demolition and initial infrastructure works is a key step forward for Lottie Gardens.

“Handover of phase one is scheduled for August, paving the way for the first foundations for new homes to be laid.

“It’s exciting to see this historic site taking shape. It’s set to become a vibrant new community that respects the local character, while offering energy-efficient, high-specification homes.”

A temporary sales office is set to open to homebuyers in September. Show homes are due to open early next year.

Once complete, the homes at Lottie Gardens will each include private gardens and off-road parking, while a woodland on site will be retained and linked by a new footpath to St Andrews Road.

Anwyl will also contribute £677,000 in community investments as part of the planning agreement, supporting local parks, sports pitches, biodiversity improvements, and transport infrastructure.

What a shame that employment space couldn’t have been created, rather than new houses. I’m sure it’s good for Anwyl !
