Chester’s tallest building to undergo modern makeover

Chester's tallest building, the Shot Tower, is to be redeveloped into offices and apartments after planning permission was granted to local developer Property Regeneration for the canal-side scheme.

Work will begin immediately converting the Queen's Road tower into 33 one and two-bedroom apartments as well as 27,000 sq ft of commercial space. Car parking, landscaping and an element of affordable housing will also be included.

Gavin Raw, the company's managing director, said: "The Shot Tower is of significant local and national importance, as it's the only remaining historic shot tower in the UK.

"Now planning permission has been granted, we're eager to put the wheels in motion on what will be one of our flagship developments.

"We purchased the site with outline planning consent. However, in collaboration with Chester architects, McCormick Architecture, a new scheme has been created, to sympathetically respect the existing listed buildings."
