Caulmert appoints head of planning

Based out of the engineering, environmental, and planning consultancy’s Altrincham office, Stephen Ottewell has joined the company from Capita.

Ottewell will lead Caulmert’s planning division as a director.

“The growth potential at Caulmert is one thing that caught the eye, and it will be great to be involved in developing the planning division,” Ottewell said.

“What is evident is that there is plenty of opportunity to build on an impressive client base and drive the company forward,” he added.

This marks a return to the hands-on side of planning for Ottewell, whose past roles had more recently been centred on business development and strategy.

Ottwell said: “I’d moved away from the day-to-day practical side of planning and that was something I wanted to get back to, so this role will utilise my strengths perfectly.”

He added: “There’s a strong core of planners here and I can’t wait to work with them to help enhance the team in terms of numbers and the array of clients we have.”

Caulmert managing director Mike Caulfield said: “We’ve been looking to deepen the talent pool within the division and Stephen’s arrival does just that.

“As a company, we have strong forward momentum with new opportunities and numerous repeat clients, and we are determined to build on that.”

Caulmert was founded in 2008. In addition to its base in Altrincham, the company has offices in Bangor, St Asaph, Nottingham, and Kent.

Recent Caulmert projects in the North West have included Everton stadium’s fan zone at Bramley-Moore Dock, a 27-acre solar farm in Halton, and the transformation of the Bee Hotel into a college building in Conwy.
