Castle Green tries again in Flint
Trimming its original proposals by four homes, the housebuilder has put forward a new application to construct 117 affordable residences on 12 acres of Quarry Farm in the hope of skirting a second rejection.
Flintshire County Council had refused Castle Green Homes’ initial plans for the Flint site in June, with county councillors voting against officer recommendation on the 100% affordable proposals.
At the time, the planning committee had said that the scheme represented overdevelopment and would not be able to provide adequate amenity accordingly.
Castle Green disagreed with the ruling and has since submitted an appeal to the Planning Environment Decisions Wales.
In the meantime, it has reworked the previous application to slightly reduce the density, moving it from a 121-home plan to a 117-home one.
All of those 117 homes, like before, will be affordable tenure. Some will be for social rent, others for affordable rent, and others still for low-cost home ownership. These will be operated by as-of-yet undecided registered provider.
The homes themselves break down to 20 one-bed walk-up flats, 49 two-bed terraced houses, four two-bed bungalows, 31 three-bed terraced houses, six four-bed semi-detached ones, and seven four-bed detached homes.
All of the residences will have at least two car parking spaces, with four-bed units receiving three.
The proposals also include more than 4.5 acres of green space.
Hourigan Planning is leading the charge on the application, with support from FPCR Environment and Design and TPM Landscape.
Grimster Planning, Reading Agricultural Consultants, Ascerta, Wardell Armstrong, Heneb, Coopers, E3P, NKC Geotech Limited, and SCP round out the project team.

I hope they get thrown out again – the constant “oh look some open space” building in Flintshire is turning the place into a horrid sprawl.

Instead of backing houses straight onto existing houses, why cant the “green space” be put next to the current houses instead of ruining their view and deprecating their house values!?
People havent paid good money for a house with a view to have more houses pop up directly next to them a few years later. Always a risk however we cant build on every available field!!

Looks like a very strange layout and house positioning. Its a one access estate which isn’t conducive to community integration and the access road has that awful sharp bend. Flint has grown considerably in the last ten years, but there’s been zero investment in its rail, bus or road infrastructure. The coast road is already severely congested most of the day, without another 100 plus cars.
