Care developers on notice for £15m Wirral housing job
The site of a former municipal building in Liscard is earmarked for around 100 specialist affordable housing units.
Wirral Council is undertaking preliminary market engagement to gauge developer appetite for the site off Seaview Road, which has been cleared for redevelopment as of August.
The authority claims it has a clear unmet need for specialist care accommodation for older people and people with mental health issues and learning difficulties and has earmarked the site to meet that demand.
Public documents accompanying the market engagement exercise state that the council “wishes the development on this site to accommodate either extra care housing for older people, or a mixed-use extra care/specialist supported development for more than one client group”.
Early thinking for the site had envisioned that the municipal buildings would be retained and converted for residential as part of a scheme that could deliver up to 130 homes.
However, contractor J Freeley was appointed to clear the site and completed the project in the summer.
A developer for the site is expected to be appointed in around 12 months.

I hope Torus bids for this they have a large number of quality extra care houses, including recently in Wirral . They are a quality local provider with a strong record
