Demo and doubling due for Northwich garden centre
Klondyke Strikes Garden Centres, the owner of Weaver Vale Garden Centre, is seeking permission from Cheshire West and Chester Council to raze the 51,400 sq ft existing store and build a larger 107,300 sq ft replacement.
Cheshire West and Chester Council has been minded to approve Weaver Vale’s application for the garden centre reset at next Tuesday’s planning committee.
Plans show that the centre, off Winnington Lane in Northwich, would be expanded across all of its sales areas.
If permission is given, the shop floor would rise from 22,000 sq ft to 48,900 sq ft. The covered outdoor area and further outdoor sales space would amount to 53,400 sq ft.
PleydellSmithyman is the planner acting on behalf of Klondyke Strikes Garden Centres and first submitted the application in August 2024.
The on-site café is also set for a mini expansion, more than doubling in size to a 5,000 sq ft spot, likely to become a restaurant.
Finally, proposals show a new 7,300 sq ft warehouse building would be erected to help with storage and product management.

It is expected that the work will both improve aesthetics and the site’s functionality. A larger enclosed shop floor area will provide greater accessibility and allow the garden centre to display a wider range of products.
A total of 361 parking spaces will be provided, including 19 for those who are disabled, 17 parent and child, and four electric vehicle charging points.
Others working on the application include i-Transport, Fairhurst, Nuture Landscapes, and RammSanderson.

A brand new garden centre is a must and would be great for the community and bring people in from a far. This has been a long time coming as the existing garden centre is in a poor condition.

Great make it like High Legh or their competitors down the A49. But please no more getting as wet indoors as outside.

Definitely needs a makeover! The staff are lovely and have buckets and tape on the floors to catch the leaks. Cafe needs updating to run in line with other Klondyke restaurants.
